What is hosting regular season games in Europe going to accomplish?

I don’t get what the NFL is hoping to accomplish by hosting regular season NFL games in London. They are all too weak and sissy to understand a real sport,t hey’d rather watch weak sports like soccer, rugby and cricket.

The NFL is still trying to expand the fan base outside of the US. This would eventually produce more revenue if it does take off. Using our current NFL is a lot cheaper than going with the old Euro league of redshirt and bench players of the NFL. On top of that, the games that were played overseas or in Mexico were all stadium sellouts. Although football is not as popular in other countries, there are foreigners that like the sport.

Soccer, Rugby and Cricket are their preffered sports much like football is our prefferred sport. They are totally different sports with different rules and really should not be compared even if it has some similarities. I don’t fully understand the game of soccer, rugby, or cricket and have no interest because I don’t understand it as much as I do football. This is probably why the rest of the world has not really grasped on to football, especially since there are far more rules than most other sports and can be hard to follow for someone who has not grown up with the sport. I am still trying to get my wife to understand the game of football after several years. LOL!

I am keeping an open mind about the idea of the NFL having games played out of the US. I think it would be great to see the world grasp onto a sport that we love so much as a nation. Wouldn’t it be cool to see the world compete against each other like the do in soccer?

Thumbs up to those who agree.

Money. To the NFL its all about money. The only reason why NFL Europe was halted was due to a loss of revenue. It wasn’t popular in Europe at the time, so the NFL had to stop the NFL Europe league. The only reason why they agreed to continue to host games overseas is so they could make some sort of revenue even if it meant not having all regular season games there. The NFL is taking the attitude of, "if we can make some profit out of this lets give it a try". Its all about money at the end of the day. They don’t care if foreigners don’t like it. If it gives them a chance to get rich they will take it.

    I think it’s the ladies…
NFL, NBA ETC.. players like white women.
    Just look at Kobe.

  4. Oh, way to generalise!!!!!!!!!

If that’s the case, then why does Wembley sell out every time full of people who are knowledgeable about the sport?

Yet another insular American who doesn’t know what the **** they’re talking about.

I dont get it either. The NFL seems hell bent on expanding and bringing their league into every home in the entire world, even if that means bringing these games that should be played in North American arenas into European. How gay. Roger Goodell should be fired for doing this and implementing all these retarded rule changes (ie. Brady rule).

  6. I agree with you df w
it is usless and how is this getting them more money over than over here?
It’s an AMERICAN sport and it should stay in AMERICA!

  7. agree with the first answer, money

  8. To spend money, make players tired from transatlantic travel, and try to get some interest going in a part of the world they have failed to generate interest. They’d be better served doing games in Mexico where there is actually a fan base.

The only reason the games sell as many tickets as they do are all of the American expats who go.

BTW, rugby is not a weak sport. It’s a collision sport like football. That’s like saying hockey is weak. Soccer and cricket though, pretty weak.

  9. Will continuing to ask stupid questions like this make ME look like I’m either incompetent, a sissy, weak, or all three?

  10. Don’t you ever get tired of trolling about how much you hate soccer and foreigners? We get it already.
